After getting a call from my recruiter’s supervisor (I haven’t heard from my recruiter in two weeks) saying I got final medical clearance, I went down to Moffet MEPS (their nifty acronym for Big Processing Center In Which You Wait Forever And A Half) and sat for three hours waiting for the five minutes in which they took my height and weight (it had been 30+ days since I’d last been down). Afterwards I talked with a job counselor and we chose four jobs (two Aircraft Avionics jobs and two computer support jobs). I then did my swearing in and fingerprints and such, so how long should it be before I hear back on which job I got?
This whole process does not seem to me terribly efficient, but very effective in weeding out people who don’t really want to be in the Forces…
I was able to pull E2 starting pay since I’m an Eagle Scout, which is nice, although I was under the impression I can get more, possibly a starting as Airman First Class and E3.
